A rash is a noticeable change in the color or texture of the skin, which may appear as redness, bumps, blisters, or scaly patches. Rashes can be caused by allergies, infections, heat, insect bites, or contact with irritants. Most rashes are not dangerous and clear up on their own.

See a doctor if no improvement

See a doctor if a rash spreads rapidly, is accompanied by fever, blisters, or painful swelling, covers a large area of the body, or does not improve after a week. A rash with difficulty breathing requires emergency care. When in doubt, consult a physician.
