Cough
Ubo
A cough is a reflex that helps clear the airways of mucus, irritants, or foreign particles. It can be dry (no mucus) or productive (with mucus). Coughing is very common and is usually caused by viral upper respiratory infections, allergies, or throat irritation.
Low urgency
See a doctor if your cough lasts more than three weeks, produces blood-tinged or thick green mucus, or is accompanied by fever, weight loss, or shortness of breath. When in doubt, consult a physician.
