Chest Pain

chest tightness
precordial pain
chest discomfort

Chest pain is any discomfort or pain felt in the front of the body between the neck and the upper abdomen. It has many possible causes, ranging from muscle strain and acid reflux to more serious heart or lung conditions. Not all chest pain is heart-related, but it should always be taken seriously.

Seek emergency care

If chest pain is severe, lasts more than a few minutes, or comes with shortness of breath, sweating, nausea, or pain spreading to the arm, jaw, or back, go to the nearest hospital immediately. Even mild chest pain that keeps coming back should be evaluated by a doctor. When in doubt, consult a physician.
